AirScope got its first field trial at the waste treatment plant that handles sewerage for all of northern New Jersey. As technicians worked to bring the final alignment between a 3000hp motor and centrifugal pump into specification, they relied on the AirScope’s FFT analysis capability to view the pump shaft harmonics.
Jerry Oselador, lead troubleshooter for industrial electrical contractor Longo Electric, used AirScope’s remote UI capability to bring the actual, real-time, data directly to where his crew was while they carefully moved the 15′ tall motor on its base by a few thousands of an inch. Having the data available for the technicians as they repositioned the running motor was instrumental in bringing the troublesome machine into spec.
Below is an image of the compact AirScope connected to a Bently-Nevada monitoring panel as well as the actual pump frequency data. The pumps were located adjacent to the control facility building.
